Enugu CP urges residents to volunteer information on miscreants, criminals

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Mohammed Danmallam, has appealed to residents of the state to volunteer information on miscreants and criminals in their neighbourhoods.
Danmallam made the appeal at the command’s headquarters in Enugu on Thursday while receiving series of certificate for nomination for awards from Security Watch Africa.
The commissioner noted that the information given to the command headquarters and its divisional headquarters would be treated with utmost confidentiality and acted upon promptly.
“The reward for awards is more work in order to sustain and exceed the security height we had achieved already.
“I passionately appeal to residents of the state to give us timely information about miscreant and criminals in their neighbourhoods for we to remain more pro-active to ensure we give criminals and hoodlums no breathing space in the state,’’ he said.
Danmallam, however, dedicated the series of nomination for awards to the command to the state government that had supported the command in fighting crime to a standstill.
“I will also give great tribute to my management team, commanders of various formations, departments, units and squad.
“I will not forget our foot soldiers, the police men and officers scattered throughout the state that had continued to remain dedicated and committed to their duties,’’ he said.
Earlier, the International Co-ordinator of Security Watch Africa, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, said that awards, which would come up in Kigali in Rwanda on Dec. 15, were meant to celebrate security and safety excellence in Africa.
Agbambu said that the command had been given 10 nominations in the various aspects of the awards due to the command’s community policing and pro-active policing approach in crime fighting.
