Enugu APC chairman escapes assassination attempt

The Enugu State chairman of the All Progress Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye, at the early hours of Saturday narrowly escaped assassination attempt.

The heavily armed suspects gained entrance into his compound at about 2:15 am.

Narrating his ordeal to newsmen, Nwoye, who has been having issues with some aspirants of his party regarding the conduct of the primary election in the state, said one of his security details was shot in the head when the hoodlums gained entrance into his compound.

“When the hoodlums gained entrance into my compound around 2:15 am, they shot Gerald Eke one of the police officers attached to me on the head and took away his official riffle.

The officer, who hails from Nsukka, Enugu state, is currently on admission at the federal orthopedic hospital Enugu.
