Eid-el-Maulud: Okowa greets Muslims, mourns victims of A’Ibom church building collapse

AS Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, to mark the birth of Prophet Mohammed, Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated all Muslims with a call on them to share with one another and spread the virtues of peace, love and charity which the Holy Prophet represents.
In a statement in Asaba on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, the governor enjoined Nigerians, and Deltans especially Muslims to use the celebration as a period of sober reflection on the numerous challenges facing the country.
He enjoined Muslims to follow the exemplary leadership of the Holy Prophet Mohammed by promoting and ensuring peaceful co-existence within the society.
While urging Nigerians to eschew ethnic, political and religious tendencies in all their dealings, he called on them to work towards building a secured and prosperous nation.
Okowa said the commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet should regenerate the faith and bond of unity among Nigerians as one people and one nation irrespective of diversity.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State I commiserate with Governor Udom Emmanuel and the people of Akwa-Ibom State over the unfortunate demise of several worshippers in the church.
The Governor reiterated his earlier call for legislation to regulate activities of workers in the construction and building industry, said “It is time to push for appropriate legislation that will regulate the training, licensing, hiring and compensation of workers in the construction and building industry; that is the way to fish out bad eggs, and enthrone standard and excellence in the industry because, the construction and building industry is so strategic that it cannot be left for every Tom, Dick and Harry,” he said.
