Easter: Commit Nigeria to prayer, Niger gov urges Christians

The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has called on Christians to use the Easter period to pray for a quick resolution of the economic challenges currently confronting the nation.

In an Easter message released on Thursday in Minna, Bello called on Nigerians to continue to work for peace, the prime essence of Christ’s resurrection.

The message, as contained in a statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, said that as the country continued to fight economic hardship and corruption, there was a need to pray for the nation.

He also urged Christians to imbibe the ideals of perseverance, sacrifice and commitment to the will of God, which characterised the Lenten season.

Bello  reminded all Nigerians of the transient nature of life and a need to keep the faith at all times.

“We must always remember that we are alive today by God’s grace and favour and not that we are any better than many that had been killed,” he said.
