Don’t sell above pump price, Niger IPMAN warns members
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), in Niger State, on Tuesday, warned its members to desist from sharp practices and adhere to N145 approved pump price by the federal government.
It made it clear that it would no longer be business-as-usual, as any member found selling above the approved pump price would face wrath of law.
Its Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Ahmad Erena, told newsmen in Minna that the association had decided to support the government that had done its best in deregulating the oil sector.
He said that the association would not back or defend any erring members caught selling above the approved pump price. “We are appealing to all independent marketers to stop selling above government- approved price, because the union will not come to your aid if you are being with by relevant authorities.”
Erena said that IPMAN would start going round with the task force to ensure that the regulations were enforced.
He lauded the Federal Government for the removal of fuel subsidy, adding that it had given independent marketers an stimulus to get the product on their own and had reduced fuel queues.
“Independent marketers are ready to give the products at government-approved price. With the partial deregulation, government has ensured that private sectors can sell at the approved price. This is good for us.”
He said that filling stations in the state had been asked to sell at N145 or below, but our correspondent discovered that some were selling above N145, while others have adjusted their pump to N145.
