Delta uncovers 50 “questionable academic” certificates belonging to civil servants

The Delta State government has restated its commitment on the ongoing verification exercise of civil servants in the state, saying that it has uncovered 50 “questionable academic” certificates.
It was reliably gathered that the 50 “questionable certificates” belong to some of civil servants who allegedly forged their first degree including their primary six certificates, while also some others were alleged to have been working without certificates.
The state Civil Service Commission Chairman, Mrs. Patience Okwuofu, told journalists that genuine certificates would lead to improved output in the state civil service, describing the civil servants with questionable certificates as fraudsters that will face the wrath of the law.
Stressing the need to authenticate certificates/professionalism in the state civil service, Mrs. Okwuofu who also is the chairman of the ongoing state verification exercise, regretted that some civil servants allegedly got themselves in forgery and its related act.
Her words; “when a six man committee on the authentication of accountants’ professional certificate in the civil service presented its findings to the state civil service commission, we are studying its findings, wherever we found errors, we will not tolerate.”
Mrs. Okwuofu, however, commended the committee members in the ongoing verification exercise, assuring that the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, would keep to his electioneering promises to Deltans, especially in providing the dividends of democracy.
Meanwhile, the Police Area Commander, Ughelli, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adepoju Ilori, has charged parents/vigilante including members of the public to strongly partner with the Nigeria Police Force in order to stamp out criminals in their various communities.
The police boss who spoke to journalists Tuesday in Isiokolo, however, urged the vigilante group to co-operate with the force by arresting and handling over criminals to the police, instead of creating a cell for themselves where they torture criminals.
