Delta state government says it has taken steps to revamp moribund industries across the state as measures to provide employment for the citizens of the state.
The state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chika Ossai, who spoke to journalists in Asaba, said he was committed to accelerated industrialization and enhanced commercial activities as his priorities in the next four years
He explained that through well articulated and accelerated industrialization, the economic index of the state would be enhanced as more job opportunities would be created thereby reducing the unemployment ratio of the state
“Industries are part of the ministry and at present, the moribund industries in the state would be revamped and within four years we will definitely look at them with a view of reviving them as this will be very important to the youth who have no jobs after their university education. So, if we focus on industrialization, a good number of those youth would be absorbed and will in a long way help in reducing crime,” the commissioner said
Ossai warned against any form of inactivity among staffers of the ministry and urged Deltans to rise up to their responsibilities in ensuring that the vision of the state governor is achieved, especially in the area of industrialization and enhanced commercial activities.
