Delta Assembly majority whip, Ruben Izeze, dropped, standing committees dissolved

…Speaker restates commitment to members’ welfare.

A major shakeup has taken place at the Delta State House of Assembly with the removal of Mr. Ruben Izeze as majority whip and was immediately replaced with the member representing Ughelli North II Constituency, Hon. Eric Oharisi.

At the plenary Thursday, the Speaker, Mr. Sheriff Oborewori, said that the replacement was sequel to a letter from the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Barr. Kingsley Esiso, adding that in line with the party rules, Izeze was dropped for Oharisi.

The letter which was read on the floor of the House was unanimously endorsed by almost all the members in the House. Hon. Izeze had been majority whip in the House since the inauguration of the sixth assembly.

Meanwhile, the House has deferred the second reading of the Delta State Electronic Fiscal Device cash Registrar, Consumption Tax Bill till next week.

Also, the House deferred the continuation of the report of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources on the Delta State Nomadic cattle Rearing Bill.

The speaker, Mr. Oborevwori while announcing the dissolution of all the standing committees, reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the members, adding that the chairman of the committees before the dissolution who have pending bills should act as chairman of such committees pending the constitution of the standing committees.
