Customs dissolves strike force teams

The Nigerian Customs Service has approved the dissolution of CGC’s Strike Force Teams and directed the Federal Operations Units to take over all their responsibilities nationwide.
Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi said that development would ensure transparency and accountability in the subsector.
The spokesperson for Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, in a recent statement noted that the Customs, would dismantle all obstacles to trade facilitation while fostering a new culture of consultation and compliance.

“This development is in tandem with his vision of ensuring result-oriented anti-smuggling strategies while facilitating legitimate trade.
“Consequently, the Ag. CGC has, therefore, charged the Federal Operations Units and other anti-smuggling formations the marching order to use all the instruments of law available to discharge their duties.
“He directed strict adherence to enshrined Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and rules of engagement while dealing decisively with economic saboteurs”, the statement reads.
