COVID-19: Lagos council boss hails weeklong ‘Sanwo-Olu free daily meal’

As Sen. Osinowo gifts 10,000 palliative food packs to constituents
The ongoing lockdown in Lagos State and some other parts of the country occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic may have brought out the good side of many political office holders and other well spirited individuals in parts of the state.

While the state government is working out ways to ameliorate the suffering of the people, many office holders including local government chairmen, lawmakers at both state and national levels and even political appointees are also doing their part.
In Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the weeklong pilot initiative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, tagged ‘Sanwo-Olu Free Daily Meal Stimulus Program’ towards catering for the youths within the three communities in the LCDA at this critical period kicked off.
The Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Hon.(Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira was most grateful as he fervently thanked the governor for the gesture.
According to the Chairman, the rate at which children, youths, senior residents turn up to benefit from the Free Daily Meal Program; the scheme is undoubtedly successful, birthing positive results at all the various points in the three communities within the LCDA.
He also noted that fasting during this period of Ramadan should not just consist of refraining from eating and drinking, but surmount all challenges confronting our nation; more imperatively the CoronaVirus pandemic that is ravaging all nations and keeping even the mightiest home on a compulsory holiday.
Itire-Ikate LCDA NULGE Chairman, Adeola Ismaila who was also at the Ijesha Dinner Point while thanking the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the daily feeding initiative, showered encomium on the Executive chairman for his enviable doggedness and simplicity leadership styles.
The executive chairman appealed for continuous adherence to directives of health professionals around the world; maintaining social distancing, washing of hands regularly with soap under running water, avoidance of all form of public gathering, staying at home and staying safe”.
In a related development, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District of Lagos State, Bayo Osinowo has rolled out 10,000 relief food package to the 16 local governments and LCDA in his district.
In a brief media parley, Senator Osinowo said he rolled out the food package to ameliorate the tension mounted by the Covid 19 lockdown.
The Senator stressed the need for people to adhere strictly to all the precautions issued by the health authorities as the Covid 19 pandemic is very real.
He later prayed that by the grace of Almighty Allah all would come out of this season alive.
It will be noted that some weeks back 30 million naira was released by the Senator in cash to the Lagos East Senatorial District, comprising of all the 16 local government and LCDA within his district to ease the suffering of the people.
The relief food package containing rice and garri was delivered to each local government and LCDA at the Senators Lagos Constituency Office with a token for transportation logistics.
The local government and LCDA under the Lagos East Senatorial District are; Somolu, Bariga, Agboyi Ketu , Ikosi isheri, Kosofe, Ikorodu West, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu Central , Ijede, Imota, Igbogbo, Ikosi Ejirin, Eredo, Ibeju-Lekki and Epe local government.
