COVID-19: Keffi LG distributes 600 bags of rice to the needy

Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa state has begun the distribution of 600 bags of 50kg rice to the needy to cushion the effect of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Alhaji Abdulrahman Sani-Maigoro, the executive chairman of the council supervised the distribution of the items to the council’s 10 electoral ward sub-committees on Sunday in Keffi.

Sani-Maigoro warned the ward sub-committee members against diverting the commodity into their personal use as anyone caught would be sanctioned appropriately.

He lauded Gov. Abdullahi Sule for fulfilling his promise by sending the rice to cushion the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the less privileged.

Sani-Maigoro appealed to the people to continue to adhere strictly to government directives aimed at curtailing the spread of the disease.

“For us to remain safe, we must continue to adhere strictly to government directive and expert advice against COVID-19,” the council boss said.

He assured the people of his administration’s commitment to good policies and programmes that would improve on their livelihood.

Alhaji Othman Adam, the state commissioner for youth and sports development also urged the sub-committee members to be selfless and committed to their duties.

He said that the Governor Sule-led administration had provided the relief materials to cushion the effect of the partial lockdown on the less privileged.

The commissioner restated government’s commitment to guard against the spread of COVID-19 into the state.
