COVID-19: FCTA reveals strategy used in fighting pandemic in FCT

The Minister of FCT, Malam Muhammad Bello, has revealed strategies adopted by the Administration to fight the pandemic in the city.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Abubakar Sani, the strategies includes; the ongoing active case search in communities and health facilities, ongoing case investigation and sample collection of suspects including respondence.
Furthermore, he also revealed that the Administration had massively embarked on identification and testing of all contacts of confirmed cases as well as testing of all cases presenting with respiratory symptoms irrespective of history of travel outside Nigeria or contact with COVID 19 positive case.
Other measures includes, rapid responding to alerts from (emergency operation centre, call centre), ongoing decontamination of homes, offices, hotels of confirmed cases and public places. Ongoing training of health workers to build more capacity.
Malam Sani also revealed that the Administration aggressively embarked on the expansion of diagnostic criteria and centres for testing and treatment.
He also noted that large consignments of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), surgical face masks, infra-red thermometers, hand sanitizers as well as
Assorted drugs, ventilators and other medical consumables have been supplied to all treatment/isolation centres and hospitals.
Sani further revealed that the Administration has ensured adequate provision of accommodation for clients in secured hotels to ensure compliance with mandatory 14-day isolation.
