A’ Court adjourns Saraki appeal Oct 6

The Court of Appeal Abuja Division on Monday adjourned the appeal filed by the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki challenging his trial on false assets declaration to October 6 for hearing.

Saraki had lodged the appeal after the Code of Conduct Tribunal Chairman Umar Danladi dismissed  his motion that sought to terminate the trial for lack jurisdiction.

When the appeal came up for hearing yesterday Saraki’s led counsel Kanu Agabi (SAN),told the court that judges in the country are being over worked.

He said that adopting their briefs would mean subjecting the justices who would proceed on long vacation this week to addition burden, interrupt their recess as they would be forced to write the judgement within the stipulated period .

He therefore asked for adjournment.

Prosecution Counsel Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) initially opposed the adjournment      as he insisted that the appellant had obtained three adjournments after the parties have filed all necessary documents relating to the appeal.

He said although the appeal was not inhabiting the trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal nevertheless  it has created a lot of inconvinces for his person.

He however conceded to the adjournment.
Consequently, the presiding Justice, Justice Abdul Aboki adjourned the appeal to October 6 for hearing.
