Councillor Clubbed to Death as Voters Apathy Marred Election in Bauchi
A serving Councilor repsenting Gizaki/Badagari ward of Bogoro local government areaThe Caretaker Chairperson Bogoro LGA of Bauchi state Mr Musa Daniel was on Saturday beaten to death by angry youths while on lawful duty
The chairperson of the local government area Mrs Hassana Arkila revealed this to newsmen shortly after casting her vote in her home town Just as voters apathy also marred the entire electoral process due to low turn-out across the state
Arkila describe as unfortunate the attack on the councilor and link the incident to enemies of the nascent democracy
” I am just inform that one of my councilor has ben beaten to death by irate youths, I am assuring you that the full wrath of law will catch up with the attackers” said Arkila
The council boss has urge the electorates to sheath their sword and embrace peace saying violence is not a solution to our political difference
According to Arkila the action on the councilor signal that the opposition are jittery of victory in the electoral process and call for calm among PDP supporters
However, in Bauchi state there was voters apathy due to low turn-out in some local government areas visted by our correspondent except in Bogoro, Tafawa-balewa and Dass following politicians mobilisation and called on the voters.
