Corps member donates sanitizers, face masks to Ikpoba Okha LG

As part of his efforts in halting the spread of the novel COVID-19 pandemic in Edo state, a corps member posted to Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state, Ojo-Edokpayi Clinton, on Wednesday, donated hand sanitizers and face masks to the council.

The items were 250 facemasks and 250 hand sanitizers.
Presenting the items to the representative of the council Chairman, Osagie Ogbinomwanhia at the council secretariat at Idogbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, he said he decided to use the local government as a channel to reach those at the grassroots because it is closer to them.
Ojo said the people at the grassroots are sometimes not remembered in the scheme of things, adding that there is every need to decentralize whatever relief materials that is available so that it can get to the rural communities.
“Before passing out, I decided to make some hand sanitizers and face masks for the people of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, reason because I feel that a lot of people have been disensitised by the rumour that COVID-19 does no longer exists and it is actually spreading.

“So coming with the hand sanitizers, I spoke with the chairman and I told him that he should inform his people that they should take precautions even when the state does not have a large number of it, but that they should still be cautious until it is declared free from Nigeria,” he said.
The corps member said for the coronavirus to be curtailed from spreading to our communities, the citizens of the state must learn to join forces with their various local government councils, stressing that the fight is for everyone.
Receiving the items on behalf of the council chairman, Osagie Igbinomwanhia thanked the corps member for his kind gesture, noting that the items will be distributed to those who needed them the most.
