Clubs in hot chase for Onazi

Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has admitted that he has been approached by several clubs who are interested in buying him.

The Nigeria international, aged 22, is wanted by Liverpool and West Ham, though he hasn’t confirmed whether the Reds or the Hammers are among the teams to have made contact with him. But he says more than 10 clubs have lodged enquiries about his availability.

Onazi also indicated that he is in no rush to quit Stadio Olimpico, despite having fallen out of favour with Lazio boss Stefan Pioli in recent weeks.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Onazi said: “I was approached by more than 10 clubs, but I am a Lazio player.

“I’m still young, I want to grow and play in European competitions. In life you have to take one step at a time.”

Onazi played for Nigerian sides El-Kanemi Warriors and My People before moving to Lazio in 2011 following an impressive showing at the 2009 U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.
