Nigeria’s flagbearers in the CAF Confederation Cup, Dolphins were ejected from the competition on Thursday after the CAF Interclubs Organising Committee decided the Garden City boys have no case in their contention against being walked over by Club Africain FC of Tunisia.
The Nigerian representatives had arrived in Tunis three hours to kick-off of their first round, first leg match at the Rades Stadium on Saturday, March 14, but then were held up for hours in the processing of visa-on-arrival and lack of transport from airport to stadium.
When a bus eventually surfaced, the team was driven round Tunis and eventually arrived at the Rades Stadium one hour after scheduled kick-off time.
However, the CAF Interclubs Organising Committee decided there was no case of force majeure, and fined the Nigeria Football Federation the sum of $2,000 while ejecting Dolphins FC without prejudice to other financial sanctions that may be taken against the club.
