C’ River Police rescue abducted ex-senator, others
A third republic senator, Patrick Ani, who was kidnapped about a week ago, has regained his freedom.
Abducted from his farm in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Ani, a younger brother of erstwhile Finance Minister, Chief Anthony Ani, represented Cross River southern senatorial district in the upper legislative chamber in the Third Republic.
A family source told the Daily Times that the former senator was released somewhere close to Calabar, but did not explain whether or not any ransom was paid to secure his release. The Police also confirmed the release of Senator Ani.
Also, an Obubra-based politician, Patrick Obase, who was kidnapped last week has been let go. Similarly, one Godwin Oduma, who was also abducted at the same period was rescued by security agents on Monday. He was kidnapped at his residence at No 14 Nyong Edem Street, Calabar South Local Government Area,
of the state on Monday by 8pm but rescued early Tuesday.
The State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Ozi-Obeh, Tuesday confirmed the rescue of the victims explaining that they were rescued by combined team of crack security agencies.
