BWARI COMMUNITY IN ABUJA PROTEST AGAINST ELECTRICITY CORRUPTION

The Bwari community of the Federal Capital Territory has staged a protest and petition against a staff of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company for alleged corrupt practice for the purchase and installation of transformer in the community.
In an interactive session with Core TV crew as the crowd marched on Abuja Electricity Distribution Company office, the convener of the group Jacob Egbunu accused one Okoye staff of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company of extortion after collecting over 240,000 Naira from the community for installation of the transformer and failed to do as promised.
The community of Bwari in a peaceful protest to the office of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company recounts its ordeal with the electricity officer assigned to the community for collecting money without rendering services to them. The Convener of the group condemns the act of the officer as he describes it as extortion and corruption.
In response to the claims of the community, the head of cooperate communication of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company says that the organisation will look into the matter and take necessary actions as supposed.
The protest was resolved in a peaceful manner as both parties came to reasonable conclusions and a way forward.
