Buhari’s health: Nigerians are too sympathetic, Fasehun

The Founder of the Pan – Yoruba organisation, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Dr. Frederick Fasehun has said that Nigerians are too sympathetic to President Muhammadu Buhari on his health situation at the expense of the country.

Speaking at Dr Fredrick Fasehun’s Media Roundtable in Lagos at the weekend, Fasehun said the National Assembly has also lost its focus saying it is not doing what it should be doing to set the country on the right path.

He said what is happening in the country where the President has been away for more than one month on medical leave and the whole thing is shrouded in secrecy could only happen in Nigeria.

“Nigerians have been too sympathetic on Mr. President’s health. It is just that Nigeria will not crumble easily, it would have crumble,” Fasehun said.

“We have been sympathetic to the President, but we are not fair to Nigeria. What is going on is very unfortunate and we pray he should get well quickly for the sake of Nigeria and Nigerians,” he further said .

The UPN National Chairman also called on the political class in the country to ensure power shift by allowing the youths to be in position of authority.
“We have been recycling failures. Why must an 80 years person be occupying political position in a country of over 150 million that has well educated youths,” he queried .

Fasehun further said that the media practitioners in the country have not been showing Nigerians the way as in the past saying the role played by the media practitioners during the fight against the military rule was commendable.

He charged the media to continue to play its role of agenda setting and enlightenment of Nigerians.
