Buhari’s anti corruption war is becoming selective, says Ondo Catholic Bishop

The Catholic Bishop of the Ondo Diocese, Jude Arogundade, on Sunday threw jabs at President Muhammadu Buhari over his anti corruption war noting that it is becoming more selective.
Bishop Arogundade said the corruption mantra which was the main trust of the campaign of President Buhari seems to be gradually fighting back because the ruling government is losing its attention and focus.
He spoke on the radio programme aired on the dial of Orange (94.5) FM In Akure monitored by the Daily Times.
The Catholic Bishop explained that the fight against corruption by the Buhari led government of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) party should be aimed towards cleaning the system not making it selective on their political enemies.
He argued that it would be needless for any political party that emerge mostly at the federal level to start accusing former government that left the seat of plunging and emptying the treasury of the country instead of resuming to work and make a bigger changes of cleaning the mess.
“What this government of Buhari is now fighting is corruption of individuals who had grasp our money but people have been grasping right from the beginning even right from 1960 and getting away with it.
“Our society is corrupt because it is not organized and people in the true sense have lost interest because they believed in their regions rather than our corporate existence as a big country.”
According to him, President Buhari as an individual might have good intentions of developing Nigeria by taking it out of the woods but the people (cabals) that are surrounding him seems to be frustrating such development.
Bishop Arogundade also stated that the government has failed the people of the country because the citizens could no longer see one another as one indivisible Nigeria that could jointly fight for same common course of true development.
“Nigeria is corrupt because government has not given the citizens the reasons to believe that we are one Nigeria and the only reason for us to believe, is if the country takes every citizens serious.
“We have to look critically and see things together. Let us build a system that will be accountable and not running after individuals,” he said
The cleric pleaded with government at all levels to build a system that would be devoid of corruption rather instead of accusing individuals of corruption.
On the roles of the church, the Catholic Bishop revealed that all the missionaries were only set up to preach the gospel of the Christ for a rebirth out of sin.
He maintained that, though, doesn’t stop religious leaders to speak the truth by kicking against bad leadership and ills in the society capable of causing mistrust.
Arogundade, however, pleaded with the people to always seek supplications from God and read his words (Bible) for more guidance mostly at trial times and when the roads look roughs.
