‘Buhari’s anti-corruption fight against Rule of Law’

The Senior Special Assistant on Inter Party Matters to Governor‎ Seriake Dickson, Comrade Miriki Ebikibina, has faulted the arrest of Judges by the operatives of the Department of State Security, describing the President Muhammadu Buhari anti-corruption fight as violation of the rule of law.
According to Ebikibina, though the fight against corruption is necessary and needed, the style adopted by the present administration with the recent arrest of the Judges over alleged corruption, is a deliberate act of harassment and intimidation of judges in the country.
Comrade Miriki Ebikibina, while speaking yesterday in Yenagoa, said the arrest of judges violated due process and rule of law in a democratic setting. “It is the height of dictatorship, which potends  a great danger to the nations nascent democracy.”
“What is sacrosanct, is the strict adherence of following the due process, even where a judge  has committed any infraction of the law. The fight against corruption cannot be carried out or fought outside the due process and the rule of law and not through a  commando and gestapo manner”.
“The judiciary is the arm that stabilizes democracy and should not be ridiculed in the crude behaviour and manner the DSS is currently doing things. The fundamental and sanctity rights of the citizens or suspects must be respected”.
