Buhari’ll Hand over to South East in 2023, Says Ngige

The former Governor of Anambra State and South East Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Committee, Senator Chris Ngige, has said that the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, will hand over to a successor from the South East after his two terms in office.

Ngige, who disclosed this at a grand reception organised for him by the APC in Awka, assured that the President-elect would run a participatory government that would represent all the tribes.

He stressed the need to have an opposition party in place, noting that it would enable the governing party to be alive to its responsibilities.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank all of you, who have been with me on this journey, it is not easy to play opposition politics, which I have played for 10 years, but, I have always known that APC will form the next administration”, he said.

On the just concluded National Assembly election, Ngige regretted that the Igbo did not get reasonable number of votes in the APC, describing it as calamity that befell Ndigbo.

State Chairman of the party, Barr. Emeka Ibeh, while commending Ngige for his doggedness, charged the party faithful to remain steadfast.

He said that the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not represent the wishes of the people in the area, insisting that the APC would challenge the process and reclaim its mandate through the court of law.

According to him, “I want to charge you all to go to the grassroots and tell them that the APC is the authentic party now that should be identified with at all levels of government. I want to assure you that with more efforts at the grassroots, APC will sweep the polls in the House of Assembly election on April 11.
