Buhari, Al-Makura win in Nasarawa

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner in Nasarawa state just as Governor Tanko Almakura won the Senate seat in the southern senatorial district of the state. Buhari is ahead of his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he polled 28,9903 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar, the PDP who scored 28,3847. A breakdown of the result as announced by the Returning Officer for the presidential election in the state, Prof. Azuibike Nwankwo of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), showed that out of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, President Buhari won eighth, while Atiku Abubakar took the remaining five. The outcome of the 2019 presidential election marked the first time the PDP will lose Nasarawa State in a presidential election since the return to democracy in the country in 2011. Accordingly Governor Tanko Almakura, APC has also been declared winner as the senator to represent the southern senatorial district of the state as he defeated the incumbent senator Suleiman Adokwe. Almakura, scored 113,156 ahead of Adekwe who polled 104,595 votes, thereby declared Almakura the winner according to the senatorial returning officer Prof. Mohammed Isa kira.
