Breaking: SERAP sues CBN, FMHDSD over COVID-19 palliatives

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against Mrs Sadiya Umar Farouq the Minister of Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and Mr Godwin Emefiele the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.

SERAP in the sute is asking the two government agencies to make public identify and name Nigerians who have benefited from any cash payments, cash transfers, food distribution, other reliefs during the lockdown because of COVID-19.
SERAP on it Twitter handle on Sunday said: ‘We’ve filed a lawsuit asking the Federal High Court, Abuja to order the Minister of Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and the Central Bank of Nigeria to publicly identify & name Nigerians who have benefited from any cash payments, cash transfers, food distribution, other reliefs during the lockdown because of COVID-19.
The suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/657/2020 filed last week, read: “SERAP & the public have a legitimate interest in ascertaining & scrutinizing the veracity of the claims of how the COVID-19 funds & donations have been spent & to know that the beneficiaries actually received any benefits.
