Breaking: Godwin Obaseki moves to PDP

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has formally moved to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following his disqualification from the Edo governorship race by the All Progressives Congress (APC),

The governor who dumped the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday,is at the PDP secretariat in Benin-City to pick up his membership card.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had postponed the Edo state governorship primary election earlier scheduled for Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20, 2020 to a new date of Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

This decision is predicated on exigencies of party activities.

All governorship aspirants, critical stakeholders, party faithful and our teeming supporters, particularly in Edo state, are to take note accordingly.

Our party wishes to remind our members that all activities shall be in accordance with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC)’s guidelines on COVID -19, as it concerns social/physical distancing at public gatherings.

Speaking Obaseki said; ” “I am here this afternoon to inform you that upon my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), I have now decided, having consulted widely within the State and across the country, to become a member of PDP.

“The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in my view has demonstrated and has shown that it is a party that is rooted in democratic practices; the party that believes in justice and fairness; the party that respects it’s members.

“I automatically become the leader of this party. I want to assure all of you (that) I am prepared to provide leadership. I am prepared to provide leadership that will lead this party to victory.

“I am prepared to provide leadership that will not only put PDP into office in Edo State but as a ruling party in Edo State, we will make sure that the level of progress, growth and participation in the political system and our people is unrivalled in this country.

“I am very happy to be here. With the reception I have received since I drove in here has been ecstatic. The energy I see in this party is the kind of energy I require to take Edo to the level we should go to next,” Obaseki said.
