Breaking: Buhari appoints Ibrahim Gambari as his new Chief of Staff

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Professor Agboola Ibrahim Gambari as his new chief of staff.

Professor Agboola Ibrahim Gambari who is from Kwara is the former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations for the Department of Political Affairs, the chairperson of the African Union Commission as Joint African Union-United Nations Special Representative for Darfur effective.

He is currently the Special Adviser on the International Compact with Iraq and Other Issues for the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Although Professor Gambari’s appointment is yet to be formally confirmed by the Presidency, he is expected to replace the late Abba Kyari.

There are strong indications that the announcement of Professor Gambari’s appointment will be made at the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
