Bosch plans upgrade for Nigeria’s construction workers

Bosch a globally renowned maker of power tools  has unveiled plans to upgrade technical know – how for construction technicians in Nigeria.

According to the power tools manufacturer, the initiative has taken them to various construction sites and clusters in the country including the Gbagada wood market in Lagos.

The company stated that its objective was to facilitate the conversion of hand-tool users to power tools users.

Specifically Bosch said the company has commenced giving free firsthand experience and information on power tools to technicians.

Bosch at its maiden dealers’ summit on Wednesday, 20th Of July, 2016 at the Sojourner GRA, Ikeja said the company aims to reduce waste in the construction sector as well as increase efficiency.

According to the manufacturer, Nigeria is lagging behind in timeliness in completing construction works, as a result of widespread reliance by artisans on manual construction tools, while major construction companies continue to import power tools rather than sourcing them locally.

Speaking at the summit, the Regional Sales Director, Mr. Benjamin Ofori noted that jobs which take two days to complete using manual tools can be completed in a day with power tools.

He further emphasized the importance of power tools to increase efficiency in output and overall growth of businesses.

Ofori said the company has commenced awareness on the advantages which using power tools presented to the construction sector and was involved in training artisans to adopt the paradigm shift in order to become globally competitive, while also saving major construction firms the trouble of importing their tools.

He announced that Bosch is growing increasing interest in key markets by strengthening their presence in the region, with Nigeria being in core focus and as a result of that, recently opened a new sales and service outlet in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ofofri said: “Africa offers great potential for our business with Nigeria leading the pack as the biggest economy in Africa, with more than 170 million people and an emerging middle class doing business with Nigeria is a step in the right direction for us at Bosch group.”

“The Nigeria at building and fostering sustainable business major significance of the power tools dealership event is to underline the commitment of Bosch in relationship with customers and also build confidence of the brand in the market.”

Bosch group is renowned for its leadership in mobility solutions, industrial technology, consumer goods, energy and building technology.

They are determined to establish these four major segments in Nigeria and the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa with local offices already established in Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Kenya, Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique and Tunisia.

Delighted dealers and distributors at the event were taken around the tools exhibition area to view the various tools, where they had a one to one session with the Bosch group service support team discussing customer requirements and how they can further support them.

The German company is also committed in empowering young talent in Sub-Saharan Africa where they initiated the ‘AFRIKA KOMMT’, the program is engineered towards empowering young budding African business leaders.

Bosch in partnership with various companies offers scholarship programs to junior African executives so that they can spend a year in Germany completing professional courses. The goal of the program the company said is to foster mutual exchange and learning between African executives and German companies.

Bosch said its power tools division has recorded significant successes in innovation of power tools, power tool accessories and measuring tools.
