Black Xmas for family in Edo as unknown gunmen allegedly kill father 5 others
No fewer than 6 members of a family including Engineer Amenaghawow Kenneth have been reportedly murdered in Benin City by unknown gunmen.
The victims of the dastardly attack are Mr. Amenaghawon Kenneth, his wife, 3 sons and his daughter.
It was gathered that the vicious killing is not unconnected with a recent disagreement within the ranks of members of his political party over the choice of a preferred candidate to run for councillorship election in his ward in the forthcoming local government council election.
The grassroot politician, it was gathered, was vehemently against the choice of the preferred candidate of the party as top officials of the party were reportedly rumoured to have sidelined him ( Engineer Amenaghawon Kenneth) in every decision processes leading to the emergence of the preferred candidate of the party from his ward.
Meanwhile, information made available to newsmen in Benin City revealed that his residence was attacked at about 11pm on December 25th 2022 by unknown gunmen who sporadically opened fire on members of the family who were still awake on Christmas day celebration watching TV in the living room.
A neighbour in the community who spoke on condition of anonymity said heavy sporadic gunshots were held at about10:57pm at night on Christmas day at the residence of Engineer. Amenaghawon Kenneth when unknown gunmen stormed his house reportedly killing 6 family members including the grassroot politician.
It was however gathered that the only surviving son of the grassroot politician, Elvis Osaigie Amenaghawon whose deceased mother passed on in 2010 during childbirth was fortunate to have escaped the bloody attack miraculously.
Elvis Osaigie Amenaghawon, according to information made available, was reported to have fled from his late father’s house owing to the continued threats to his life as the unknown gunmen however vowed to eliminate every family member of the grassroot politician ever alive.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police made available to newsmen in Benin City, confirmed that 6 members of the family of Mr.Amenaghawon Kenneth including his wife, 3 sons and his daughter were reportedly murdered by unknown gunmen .
The statement further stated that while investigation into the gruesome muder had commenced, the command was open to additional information from members of the public in a view to unraveling the identities of the killers and to also apprehend them.
