Benue debunks hiring trucks to convey police recruits

Benue state government has debunked a video trending on social media in which those who shot it were heard claiming that the state Governor, Samuel Ortom sent trucks to convey police constables from Enugu state back to the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terver Akase in a statement in Makurdi on Saturday said “it is important to state that the government of Benue state did not hire trucks or other vehicles to convey the police recruits to the state.”
According to him, Governor Ortom only approved the request of the state police command for support, to enable it bring the constables back to the state from the Nigeria Police Training School, Enugu.

“It was not the responsibility of the governor to determine the type of vehicles the command would use for that purpose.
“We find the said video as an act of mischief and deliberate attempt to cast the governor in bad light,” the statement added.
