Bankole advocates institutional re-birth in education sector

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, has advocated for a strong institutional rebirth that will enable administrators in the nation’s educational sector churn out graduates who in the later future would be responsible for the training of the future Nigerian leaders.
Bankole made the advocacy while delivering his paper at the 2nd Registry Day marking the 40th Anniversary of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, also declared that the challenges bedeviling the nation’s education sector, particularly education training institutions will become a thing of the past if administrators would stop cheapening their admission processes.
He was the Guest Lecturer at the event which has as its theme: “Teachers’ Quality, Competitiveness and Employability: Defining the Roles for College Administrators and Academics.”
In his address, Bankole noted that the quality of training bequeathed on teachers always have a telling effect on their products who invariably grow to become managers of the nation’s human and material resources such as politicians, pension managers and even lawmakers for the country.
Lamenting the challenges bedeviling the management of education policies in Nigeria, the former Speaker said some of the appalling laws negatively affecting education management in Nigeria were made by products of half-baked teachers most of who failed to inculcate spirit of discipline and patriotism on pupils and students that have passed through their tutelages.
