The Presidency has said that the presidential committee probing the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal and the suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke, has concluded its works and will submit its report to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice- President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, disclosed this development in statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.
Buhari had on April 19 set up the presidential panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) while given the committee two weeks deadline to submit its report. The report is expected to be submitted on Wednesday (yesterday).
But Akande said though the committee was scheduled to complete its assignment on Wednesday, the report will be officially presented to Buhari on Monday.
He said, “The three-man Presidential Investigative Committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, under the chairmanship of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, to inquire into the Discovery of Foreign and Local Currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos and the Allegations of Due Process Violations in the Award of Contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East is completing its assignment today and is scheduled to present its reports to the President on Monday, May 8, 2017.”
Other members of the panel are the National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd) and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
Lawal, Oke and other concerned parties had appeared before the panel and tendered relevant documents to assist the committee.
