ASUU donates foodstuff to IDPs in Adamawa
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has donated assorted foodstuff and detergents to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Damare camp, near Yola.
Presenting a trailer-load of items, which included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil and cartons of soap, the Yola Zone Co-ordinator of ASUU, Dr. Musa Abdullahi, said that the gesture was a part of the national body’s effort to complement government’s initiative in catering for the IDPs.
Abdullahi, who was represented by Dr. Augustine Anthon, said that ASUU had, from January to date, expended over N40 million on welfare of IDPs in the North East.
“The union had also assisted Nyanya bomb blast victims with N5 million, while the staff of Adamawa State University, Mubi, affected by the insurgency were given N26 million assistance.
“We are also trying to reach out to victim camps in Plateau and Edo states,” he said.
