Asegun School starlet Qudus: Aguero is my role model

The prodigy revealed he has learned a lot from his idol over the years, and is determined to replicate his success

Asegun Comprehensive High School’s Rasheed Qudus has described Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero as his role model and revealed he wants to win the Etisalat U15 Football tournament.

The 12-year-old turned in a superb display that produced two goals and three assists at the Lekan Salami Stadium to emerge as the Cliqlite man of the match.

Qudus’ playing style has already prompted fans to draw comparisons with former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry, though the youngster has revealed that it is another striker in Aguero who he looks up to.

“My role model is Sergio Aguero because he is a very good striker,” Qudud told Goal.

“He is the one I look up to and many of my friends and teammates call me Aguero.”

He is also optimistic about his school’s chances of winning the top prize at the end of the competition.

“I thank God for what he did for me, he made us win and I want to thank Etisalat for hosting this competition.

“We are going to reach the final and win the tournament by the grace of God.”
