The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, has called on Ijesha indigenes to come home and develop the town.

Aromolaran said this in Ilesa on Saturday during the conferment of the traditional title of Asiwaju of Ilesa on Yinka Fasuyi, who is the President of Ibadan Business School.

Fasuyi’s wife, Olubisi, was also conferred with the Yeye Asiwaju of Ilesa by Aromolaran.

The monarch said that Ijesaland was blessed with prominent sons and daughters, saying the town would be much more developed than it was presently if the wealthy indigenes could come and invest in the development of the town.

The monarch said the position of the Asiwaju was an advisory one.

Oba Aromolaran said, “This is just to encourage him (Fasuyi) and other Ijesa sons and daughters to come and develop their town.  He is a responsible person and he is doing well. Like I always say, it is not enough for Ijesa sons and daughters to just build houses in their communities, they should site industries and universities here. There are smaller towns with two or more universities.”

The monarch also called on Fasuyi to lead in building a new and befitting palace for him.

He said he did not want the people of the town to continue building the abandoned one but to start afresh in order to prevent collapse.

Fasuyi, who said he was happy with the chieftain title, promised to contribute his quota towards developing the town.
