Army to uncover unknown gunmen in S/Kaduna, halt bandits from entering Plateau

With a matching order from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratia, the Nigerian army has set up an Internal tactical headquarters in a border town between Southern Kaduna and Plateau state, aimed at flushing out terrorists who have been unleashing terror in the said general area.
The internal security operational exercise code-named ‘Operation Harbin Kunama 2,’ is strategically situated at Nimbia forest in Kaduna state, near Jos, with the mandate to disarm bandits, in Southern Kaduna and to block them from fleeing to neighboring states such as Bauchi and Plateau states.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, at the inaugural launch of the internal security operational exercise, the Operation Safe Haven Commander (OPSH), Major General Rogers Nicholas, said that the country is tired of incessant loss of lives and properties, hence the need to set up an operational strike force based in the most troubled parts of the country aimed at restoring normalcy there.
Gen. Nicholas noted that the same exercise was also being inaugurated simultaneously in six states, namely Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa and Bauchi states, adding that the persistent clash between herdsmen and farmers in Southern Kaduna and other terrorist groups in other parts of the country necessitated the setting up of the Operation.
Operation Harbin Kunama 2, headed by Sector 9 and 6 of the OPSH, revealed that the hideout of the perpetrators of the genocide going on in Jama’a LGA in Kaduna State has been uncovered and will soon be rounded up.
Sector 9 of the OPSH, also known as the tactical headquarters of the Harbin Kunama 2, headed by Colonel I.B. Oloyede, disclosed that the aim of the terrorists in Southern Kaduna is to destabilize and take over the region, adding that the situation has deteriorated.
Col. Oloyede said that the terrorists are loaded with arms of different types, using abduction, quick invasion into villages to kill and burn houses of unarmed villagers as their tactics to unleash terror in the area.
He assured that his command is battle ready to flush out the bandits, commending the effort of the OPSH Commander in equipping troops with the military equipment to disarm the hoodlums and return normalcy.
Daily Times reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratia, has commissioned OPSH to take charge of Southern Kaduna, an operation which covers 1,000 meters of additional area of jurisdiction.
