App Based Transporters, Bolt Drivers Protest Murder of Member In Bayelsa

App based transporters and Bolt drivers in Bayelsa State yesterday matched through the streets of Yenagoa, the state capital demanding justice over the gruesome murder of a bolt driver, Emmanuel Eden by unknown assailant recently in Yenagoa.
The bolt drivers, in their hundreds and armed with placards with inscriptions such as ” Stop harassing Bold drivers”, “Bold drivers are bread winners of a family”, “we need better security”, No to brutality and killings” and ” Gov. Diri come to our aids”, marched from Tombia junction through the state capital, appealing to the state government to take necessary action to bring justice to the family.
The protest had members of the Nigerians Union of Journalists (NUJ) and some Civil Society groups present.
One of the protesters, Jolly Adomokeme, told newsmen that they are on a peaceful march against the gruesome killing of their member and are calling for justice.
According to Adokeme,” though police has been friendly but some bad eggs among them have displayed acts against civil members of the society. Police should do their work and stop harassing Bold drivers and passengers.”
” The police should also stop unnecessary extortion of our passengers.”

Another bolt driver, Goodness Okure, said the protesters are out “to call on the Nigerian Police and the Bayelsa State government to investigate and arrest those behind the dastardly killing of our colleague ”
She told newsmen that the late Emmanuel Eden left behind a young family with a wife and two kids, stressing that ” the woman is helpless.”
Recall that the bolt driver, Emmanuel Eden, was shot dead on the 29th of May, 2025 at Samphino Junction in the Kpansia axis of Yenagoa, the state capital.
Passersby discovered the lifeless body of the middle-aged driver the following morning inside his vehicle and alerted the police, who cordoned off the area.
