APM Terminals Kano records 51% increase in volumes in H1 2025

APM Terminals Kano has reported a 51 percent increase in Through Bill of Lading (TBL) volumes in the first half of 2025, compared to the same period last year.
Steen Knudsen, terminal manager, said the growth was driven by stronger coordination between the Kano and Apapa teams to move more cargo in and out of the hinterland through Apapa port.
“When compared with the 2024 half-year period from January to June, we observed a notable percentage increase (51%) in TBL volumes in 2025,” Knudsen said in a statement.
The terminal also recorded its highest monthly gate-out figures in May 2025, handling 139 container units — the highest since January 2024.
“Kano’s gate-out performance in May marked the highest monthly total since January 2024, highlighting a significant milestone. This achievement reflects the unwavering dedication of our Kano team to operational excellence,” Knudsen said.
He added that the use of lean methodologies, standardised processes, and the elimination of inefficiencies had improved terminal performance and set a new benchmark for operations.
The growth follows recent investments at the Kano facility, including upgraded gates and security offices to improve efficiency and safety.
The future plans include installing solar power systems for gate and yard lighting, as part of the company’s Go Green sustainability strategy to cut CO2 emissions.
