APC: Turning Gov. Fayose to a superman?

To say that there is no love lost between the Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Ayodele Fayose is stating the obvious.

However, the party early last week took its opposition to a ridiculous level when it alleged in a statement that Fayose is responsible for the fuel crisis in the state. By this allegation, the APC appears to have turned the governor to a superman.

The APC in the statement said it had “incontrovertible evidence” that Fayose’s action is aimed at sabotaging President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

In the statement signed by Publicity Secretary of APC in Ekiti State, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party said available information confirmed that daily allocations of fuel to the state were allegedly diverted to other states with the alleged connivance of some NUPENG officials.

As Nigerians wait for the APC to produce the “incontrovertible evidence” to buttress its allegation, it is necessary to ask: How come Gov. Fayose was able to blind the eyes of law enforcement agencies of the Federal Government in Ekiti State like the Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) among others to the extent that he was able to divert the fuel laden trailers as alleged by the APC?

One wonders when the governor became so powerful to prevail on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) whose duty it is to distribute petrol across Nigeria, Ekiti State inclusive, to do his bidding.

Fact is that there is no way these agencies, aware of the not-too-sweet relationship between Fayose and the Federal Government, will look the other way while he diverts petrol allocated to Ekiti State as alleged by the APC. Even if there are some officials of these agencies in Ekiti who may want do Fayose’s bidding as alleged by the APC, still they will trade softly as Abuja certainly is watching and will not hesitate to deal with them.
