APC moves NEC meeting to presidential villa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has relocated its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from Buhari House to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, earlier scheduled to hold at the party’s national secretariat on Thursday, will now take place at the Banquet Hall of the Villa.
A senior party official, who asked not to be named, said the decision was made to allow President Bola Tinubu attend the meeting despite other commitments.
“The party has moved the NEC meeting to Villa. The liaison officer came to the party secretariat this morning, Wednesday, to inform us of this development,” the source said.
Preparations had already begun at the Buhari House with canopies and chairs set up. But the arrangements were later dismantled following the change of venue.
Felix Morka, APC national publicity secretary, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday.
Party insiders say the move was largely for logistical convenience and to ensure maximum participation, especially from the president.
The NEC meeting is expected to decide on a replacement for Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who recently resigned as national chairman of the party citing health reasons.
Top on the agenda is the appointment of an interim chairman to lead the party until a substantive national chairman is elected at the APC convention next year.
