APC governorship aspirant set to capture Ekiti in 2018 poll

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress APC for the governorship election in Ekiti State this year, Engineer Kayode Ojo has promised to return the state to the development and winning ways that will take the people out of poverty, generate wealth and create employment for the teeming youths.

He communicated this intention in an interactive session with some senior editors in Lagos over the weekend. He said that his leadership in the state would be creative and purposeful to the needs of the people by attracting investors and entrepreneurs who will explore the great natural and human resources available in the state to create wealth, generate employments and put food on the people’s tables, as well as make Ekiti State an industrial hub in the South West Region of Nigeria.

Engineer Ojo who has not sought any political office in the past said he is damn sure he will pick his party’s governorship ticket during the primaries as his chances are bright because he is one who has achieved fame and reached the top through his professional private practice which has helped him to impact on his people positively.

According to him, the leadership he will drive will be one that will bring new initiative on how to create development in order to lift the people out of poverty. “My goal is to help lift the people out of poverty”, he stated.

The politician, who said his advantage to clinch the ticket of his party and rule the state is that at 47, age is on his side and that he has tremendous energy to drive his ideas and bring about the much desired development the state needs.

In order to disabuse the minds of people over his newness for the office of the governor, Ojo admitted that he has not contested for the office or any other political post before, but he had in the past sponsored people into various political offices with his wealth generated from his 27 years of professional practice in the oil and gas and other key sectors.

He said he is out to contest for the governorship election because Ekiti State is in dire need of development, and that the majority of the people are poor and helpless, adding that his mission to rescue the state is to empower the people to generate wealth in order to raise the standard of living of the citizens of the state.

His words: “Our situation in Ekiti is serious, there is stunted growth everywhere you go, the people are poor and yearning for help because the stomach infrastructure of the present administration has not in any way lifted them from poverty and so the people want change for the better and a government that will restore their confidence and hope of creating wealth and empowering them. We will create programmes that will ensure that these ideas are achievable”, Ojo assured.
