APC debunks rumour of candidate’s withdrawal from guber race in A’ Ibom

The Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Akwa Ibom has refuted rumours making round that the Governorship candidate of the party, Obong Nsima Ekere in next week’s gubernatorial election has withdrawn from the race.
In a statement issued in Uyo yesterday and signed by the Chairman, Information and Strategic Communication and Chairman, APC Campaign Council in Akwa Ibom Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the APC maintained that its candidate remains an active participant in the coming governorship election ready to clinch victory.
“Our attention has been drawn to a petty drivel by agents of the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, currently making the rounds in the social media that suggests that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the March 9, 2019 election, Obong Nsima Ekere, has withdrawn from the governorship race.”
Eyiboh said that the rumour was nothing more than the usual badly cooked up mendacious stories, which unfortunately has become the hallmark of the Udom’s administration and his party, the PDP in the State.
He the purported the statement said to be emanating from the APC Spokesman was poor in language and content as the amateur writer gave out his identity by referring to APC Campaign office as “Mandate Campaign office”, which is the campaign platform of Udom Emmanuel.
“The write up is emblematic of the calibre of men that Gov. Emmanuel has been employing to carry on with the governance of the state; a mediocre government, populated by mediocre officials, which has led to the miserable and unfortunate performance Akwa Ibom people have witness in his close to four years Administration.”
He said for avoidance of doubt, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Obong Nsima Ekere has not withdrawn from the governorship race.”
“He has no reason to do so. The propaganda is coming out of a fear-stricken side, which already reckons with the certainty of the defeat staring them in the face. Obong Nsima Ekere has continued to enjoy the overwhelming support and endorsement of the generality of the people of the state. Our people see Obong Ekere as the answer to the inept, focus-less and incompetent administration of Gov. Emmanuel. This is the fear that is driving them to such ridiculous and senseless propaganda.”
“We urge all APC members and our teeming supporters to ignore such propaganda and focus on their resolve to elect Obong Nsima Ekere as the next governor of Akwa Ibom State. Our people must rise to reject the shenanigans between the PDP and INEC aimed at denying our people the right to vote and allow their votes to count. We appeal to all APC supporters to remain vigilant and ensure that they come out to vote for Obong Nsima Ekere and ensure that they resist the electoral malfeasance the PDP and their collaborators perpetrated during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.”
