APC chieftain Commends Dickson’s comments of “wasted” Jonathan’s tenure

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former security adviser to the Bayelsa state government, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, has described as unnecessary and misplaced the criticism that trailed the comment by Governor Seriake Dickson that the six years of former President Goodluck Jonathan was a waste to Nigeria and the Ijaw people.
According to Kpodoh, though the verdict handed down by Governor Dickson shocked many coming from a PDP governor of Bayelsa and especially the home state of the former president, the verdict by Governor Dickson was the truth and the confirmation of the earlier positions that the Jonathan’s administration was the most corrupt and a wasted opportunity for the Niger Delta region.
Chief Kpodoh, who was reacting in Yenagoa to the controversy triggered by the verdict handed down by Governor Dickson during the May 16th Isaac Adaka Boro day, said: “I have studied the various criticisms and concluded that those castigating the Bayelsa governor are shying away from the truth.
“Not wanting to sound like media aides to Governor Dickson, the truth is bitter and the Izon race stands for truth. What Governor Dickson said was the bitter truth.
Instead of being castigated, Governor Dickson should be applauded.”
He noted with concern that though the region has lost the golden opportunity provided by the Nigerian nation with former President Jonathan’s presidency, “after the six years, the Niger Delta region is still wallowing in poverty, under development and deprivation.
“The Nigerian nation blessed the Niger Delta region with a vice president, acting president and president, but what did we show for it. Look at the NLNG in Brass, it should have been running and employ over 500,000 youths.
“Sea ports should have been activated with cargoes moving from the region to the south west and south east.
The east-west and other federal roads should have been completed, but none was achieved under Jonathan.
“And some people are claiming that what Governor Dickson said was not the truth. I have said it without counts that Jonathan’s years is a wasted time. When late Azikwe was in charge, the eastern region opened up.
“Awolowo was a prominent South-west politician, the South west prospered. Obasanjo, though controversial, Ogun state opened up.
Buhari is president, and the Northern region particularly Katsina has opened up. What did Jonathan do? Nothing.”
