Angry mob beat lynch Okada rider in Ondo

 

A 24-year-old chieftain of the Amalgamation of Commercial Motorcycle Operators Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Mr. Ilemobayo Anjorin, was on Tuesday, beaten to death by a mob of angry residents who were mainly students for allegedly stealing a goat.

Several residents and off-campus students of the Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) told journalists that the late Anjorin, in company of one of his friends invaded the popular Pamgroove Street in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area, and stole a goat belonging to a poor woman in the area.

Daily Times also gathered from the students that the incident caused pandemonium among many residents after discovering that the alleged thief could no longer breathe out as a result of heavy beaten received from the angry mob.

“Late Anjorin was beaten to stupor by angry mob in the street who were mainly students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, before he could be rescued by the police” a source said.

One of the students who pleaded not to be named told journalists that frantic effort made by some policemen who rushed to the scene, upon gotten wind of the incident could not immediately save the life of the dying victim who had already been heavily injured.

Other sources said further that the situation almost resulted in the breakdown of law and order as the angry mob who were in large numbers had to follow the rescuing policemen to the hospital.

“But few minutes after arriving at the hospital, the late Anjorin was confirmed dead by the doctors in charge of the hospital” one of the sources said.
