Anambra guber poll: I’ll not drag Obiano to court, says Obaze

The governorship candidate of PDP in the last Saturday election, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has said although the election fell short of accepted standard, he will not challenge the victory of Governor Willie Obiano at the Tribunal.
Obaze spoke on Monday when he addressed newsmen to clarify his earlier comment on the election which many misconstrued to mean that he would go to the tribunal.
Oseloka congratulated Obiano for his victory in the election and other contestants for promoting peace in the election. He said he was closing the chapter of the last election even as he saluted his political god father, Mr. Peter Obi, PDP Governors, his running mate, Mrs. Chidi Onyemelukwe and his family.
He however reiterated his conviction that the election was not free and fair, saying that of Anambra State has any candidate won in all the 21 Local Governments of the State. He argued that each of the candidates has his or her area of strength, which was not reflected in this election, stating that over voting was responsible for APGA’s massive votes in an election that witnessed poor turnout Obaze said he has made his observations on what went wrong in the election to the INEC hoping that they would address them if they sincerely want to deepen electoral process.
He said his supporters were not involved in the monetary inducement of voters recorded during the poll but conceded that the election was the most peaceful in recent time.
Obaze said as a bonafide citizen of the State, he was entitled to point out the pitfalls of the election, so that they can be corrected for the overall progress of the society.
Obaze however said he would not drag the State to an unending litigations, stating ” since they have announced Obiiano as the Governor, he should provide governance to the people of the State”.. But he said that if his party compels him to contest the election in the Court of Law, as a loyal party man he will abide by their decision.
