Al- makura inaugurate transition committee task members on smooth handover

Governor Umaru Almakura of Nasarawa State, has on Tuesday inaugurated 31members transition committee, saddled with responsibility of smooth transition from the incumbent to the newly elected government.
The committee which is chaired by the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Silas Ali Agara, the Deputy Governor-Elect Dr Emmanuel Akabe as Co-Chairman, while Secretary to the state Government, Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi as Secretary of the committee among other members.
Addressing the committee members during the swearing in ceremony at Government House Lafia yesterday, Governor Al- makura tasked them to review his administration in office for the past eight years.
His words, “as I swear you today, you would be guided by the following terms of reference; to review the administration of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura in all sectors during its stewardship (29th May, 2011 to 29th May, 2019)
“To identify challenges in the implementation of policies, projects and programmes of the administration and suggest likely steps for the incoming administration to explore, examining Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as Government-Owned Companies in the State, including available manpower and make appropriate recommendations”
Accordingly, the committee would also consider and recommend any other issue(s) that may be incidental to the terms of reference of the committee and execute a befitting handing over ceremony from the outgoing administration to the incoming one 29th May, 2019.
The committee is given four (4) weeks from the date of inauguration to report back to the state government.
The Governor, also inaugurated Boards of the Teachers Service Commission and the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service to further enhance effective service delivery in the state.
“As part of this event, the Boards of the Teachers Service Commission and the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service will also be inaugurated in furtherance to our commitment to reinvigorate the operations of the institutions for optimal performance.
” As you are aware, in our determination to enhance education in the state, we have made substantial investment in the provision of infrastructure and other facilities towards the creation of the enabling environment for teaching and learning to take place in our school”, he added.
