Adamawa group calls for recall of Senator Binta

Barely a week after the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Dr Steven Dame Mamza made a passionate appeal during a book presentation In Michika that any political office holder that is not doing what he or she is supposed to do should be recalled, noting that most of the politicians from the Northern axis are doing nothing to the peace and unity of the area, a political group in Adamawa State has taken up the challenge and is calling for the recall of their Senator.
The political group, ‘Maiha like minds’ of Maiha LGA in Adamawa North Senatorial District has called for the recall of Senator Binta Masi Garba, the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial Districts over what they call ‘poor representation’.
While chanting the recall slogan “Enough is enough, no more Binta”, the group said they have not found her worthy to represent the zone again as she is not even at the know of their plights since they voted her into power.
The group’s spokesman who simply identified himself as Isa said: “We in Maiha have been peaceful and tolerable which is our trademark. But we have had enough of Binta’s lazy approach to leadership.
Since we started politics, we have never seen anybody that is as greedy, irresponsible and doesn’t value people like Binta Masi Garba. She is a type of a leader that you don’t see her, she doesn’t pick phone calls, she doesn’t reply text even when it’s seriously important to talk to her, very unorganized leader and doesn’t visit her constituency as it should be.
“We have many problems that we want her to table at the National Assembly, but she doesn’t get to come around. And anybody that you think is close to her when you ask him he will tell you that her constituency is in Abuja.
The worst is that even her aides don’t see her, that is why when you approach them its like you are wasting your time.”
Isa further laments that they heard her bragging of sharing Keke Napep, Generators, etc. “Binta should ask the people she gave Keke Napep, Mattresses to share to us and the people they have given it to.”
According to him he only knows how some people were selling Keke NAPEP and he personally bought one from Binta’s supporter.
“To my knowledge, the Tricycles being used to propagate her vaulting ambition was not shared, but sold out to people of the area, we have our proof and we want to tell her that she should stop using Governor Bindow’s projects and claim that is her own. Some of these renovations are done by the governor. The borehole projects are all Bindow’s and World Bank projects.
“Binta has no project. Believe me if Binta has given our people anything serious we would have praised her. Even you can attest to that, as a Journalist that always covers the governor’s project, have you ever heard that Binta did any project? That means they have no projects on the ground,” he said.
One of the protesters, Saidu Konkol, lamented that “During her campaign, she promised to do empowerment program for us. Where is the empowerment program? Who did she empower? She doesn’t even have a constituency office in Maiha. We try to reach her to no avail. We even contacted her aide from Maiha, but he refused to give us listening ears.
“Our friends in Michika and Mubi are also telling us the same thing. Our elders are not happy with her too. Since she became a Senator, we only saw her ones in Maiha. Haba what did we do to deserve all this? But we want to tell her, Insha Allah, she has come to the end of the road. The 2019 election is around the corner, “No more Binta Maiha!” We are not asking her for money, but let her do the right thing and be accessible.”
He continued: “Her coordinators in Maiha are looking miserable and bitterly complaining. One of them even complained that their DG doesn’t pick his call anymore. Our elders are complaining seriously. She doesn’t pick their calls even as they are not calling to beg her for money. We want her to stop that or when she enters Maiha again we will prove to her that we don’t want her again. She is the only Senator in the history of our zone without constituency office and constituency staff, yet she collects constituency allowances. I think the EFCC should probe this. We will soon write a petition to EFCC over this.
“Finally, we want to let her know that whether she change or not, it is too late for her. However, it is in her interest to change and stop working with criminals that divert relief materials.”
