Absence of gov cripples governance in C’River state

The absence of the governor of Cross River state, Prof. Ben Ayade, in the state has crippled governance as civil servants have abandoned their duty posts to attend to their private activities. The workers, according to Daily Times findings, are into private businesses. This had been a common practice whenever the governor travels abroad.
And it had been speculated that Governor Ayade has travelled outside the state more than any other governor and whenever this happens, the economic, social and political activities crumbles. Some of his aides stay outside office for over two weeks attending to their businesses.
Sadly, those who managed to be in the office will impose one policy or the other which will affect the citizenry. Such impositions, according to our findings, include unsubstantiated levies and taxes thereby exploiting the people of their lean resources.
For instance, the tanker drivers were ordered to pay N12, 800 each as levy for road maintenance and this resulted in some days of industrial action by the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) which called out their members on industrial action.
A day after the successful hosting of the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, Governor Ayade commenced his usual oversee travels. This time, the governor left for China ostensibly to solicit for investors.
“The journey to China is coming on the heels of a successful visit by the acting President,” a source hinted. The acting President visited the state last Thursday on a two day working visit. This helped the governor to showcase some his achievements aimed at enhancing their inter party collaboration.
Consequently, our source, who pleaded for anonymity, said the visit of the acting President made it possible for the world to see and hear the truth that critics have refused to tell about the state. He said they claimed that the governor has not done anything but the fruits of his toils and journeys were clearly stated by the acting President after going round and see for himself.
The governor is still not tired. He wants to do more which is why he has jettisoned other concerns to make the China trip to bring more investors. Though, the Governor had left to China to come back on the 17th of June but sources hinted that Governor Ben Ayade he knew cannot come back on that day.
“With successful hosting of the Acting President, the Governor is not likely to come back. You will see that he might stay for over a month or two hence the state suffer, salary will not be paid on time, everything will be crumbled, some civil servants will come to work by 9am and close by 12pm, watch and see” He stated
