N8.8b Bailout : Fayose Gradually Turning Ekiti Workers to Beggars, Says Orire

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Rev. Dr. Bayo Orire, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party lied on its revelation that Governor Ayo Fayose got N8.8 billion bailout in the first tranche of the Paris club bailout to Ekiti State.

Orire said the actual amount with the Federal Ministry of Finance was N9.6 billion, describing Fayose’s position and that of his party as not only callous, but belittling of their status as those saddled with the responsibility of leading the state at this present time.

Orire spoke in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday while reacting to the claim by Fayose and the PDP that Ekiti got N8.8 billion from the first tranche of Paris Club released to pay salaries by the federal government contrary to a sum of N9.5 billion revealed by APC.

The medical practitioner noted that with this action, which he said has come to the public domain that Governor Fayose no longer enjoys the confidence of the populace, particularly the workers.

He said by this action, Governor Fayose has succeeded in eroding the values of integrity, probity and accountability Ekiti was renowned for, which he said was capable of plunging the civil service into
corruption when workers were being denied of their entitlements.

Orire lamented that workers are gradually becoming beggars due to unpaid salaries, spanning over six months, describing this as a potential danger to the security of the state.

He said: “It is still a further shows penchant for glaring deceit and irredeemable attachment to unwise standards in administration N9.5billion naira should be able to pay salaries for a minimum of four months. There are rules laid down for the disbursement of Paris Club refunds, if such instructions are violated, it’s not the fault of
workers but of the management.

“Salaries were mis- applied, the bailouts are being mismanaged, it shows insensitivity, callousness and unbridled wickedness from a self acclaimed friend of the masses. He has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is an avowed enemy and killer of the masses.

“The people should troop out en masse to demand for their rights. People are dying, people are starving, people are being impoverished. Let the civil servants demand their bread, their pays and their means of survival. This is dying and grumbling, let them cry out”, he stated.

Orire said the workers are being stifled by deception coming from Governor Fayose that bailouts to Ekiti were not sufficient to pay more than one month salary each time the federal government made disbursement to the state.

“The story has become a rhetoric in the mouth of our dear Governor that money not enough to pay salaries. At a time when Osun , Kogi and many other States paid over three to four months salaries after the first tranche of the Paris Club, our dear Governor said he could only pay one month, making our people and economy to be in shambles the
more.

“We call on the Federal Ministry of Finance to always disclose amounts to state through publication before releasing the funds to the states to prevent further deception from some Governor, particularly Governor Fayose”.
