Beyonce Has A Fela Inspired Album That Is Yet To Be Released
This is good and bad news for the BeyHive. The good news is that there’s an unreleased Fela inspired album by Beyoncé containing about 20 tracks in the vault. The bad news is that we have no idea when it will be released—if it ever gets released at all.
News of the secret album, which was recorded just prior to Bey’s 2011 album, 4, was revealed by producer Terius “The-Dream” Nash. According to him, all 20 tracks were inspired by Nigerian musician and activist Fela Kuti.
“We did a whole Fela album that didn’t go up. We did a whole different sounding thing, about twenty songs. She said she wanted to do something that sounds like Fela. That’s why there’s so much of that sound in the ‘End of Time.’” the producer explained in an interview
Nash, who is responsible for hits like “Single Ladies” and “Run the World,” said that it’s not uncommon for artists like Beyoncé to record multiple bodies of work at one time.
“There’s always multiple albums being made. Most of the time we’re just being creative, period. We’re talking about B, somebody who sings all day long and somebody who writes all day long.”
He concluded by saying that there are probably even more records than the aforementioned 20 that have yet to be released.
“There’s probably a hundred records just sitting around,” he said.
Beyonce featured Nigerian award winning writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in her smash hit; ‘Flawless’. Now we are hearing a whole Fela inspired Album, Nigerians rock!
